Cotton Area Rug
Find a Cotton Area Rug for Comfort and Easy Care
Most people have at least one cotton area rug in their homes. Runners in high traffic areas, bath rugs, kitchen rugs, and kids rugs are usually cotton or a cotton blend. The biggest advantage is that these are washable rugs. You can easily toss them into the washer and sometimes even the dryer for easy cleaning.
The rugs are also very soft to walk on. Cotton rugs are usually padded and have a backing to keep them in place. They can help with foot and leg fatigue when you're washing dishes in front of a kitchen sink. They are also soft on the bottoms of toddlers who are just learning to walk.
Cotton rugs stand up well to water. They are often designed to absorb water in bathrooms and kitchens, and then quickly dry in preparation for their next use. Their backings often resist mildew, mold, and other water damage.
Because these rugs are washable, they require much less maintenance than wool or other materials. They can be vacuumed, shaken, cleaned with a home steam cleaner, and washed in either a washing machine or bathtub and hung to dry.
Washable cotton rugs are very affordable as well. You can find them at most discount stores and of course, online. You can usually get a set of rugs to complement each other for easy decorating.
It's wonderful to not have to worry about water, stains, or other problems inherent with wool or other rug blends. Cotton rugs are wonderful for busy home managers everywhere!
